Conocarpus erectus, also known as buttonwood, is a hardy evergreen tree native to Florida, the Caribbean, and South America.
Benefits:
- Conocarpus erectus is highly tolerant of salt water, making it an ideal tree for coastal planting. It can even survive temperatures of 15°F for short periods of time.
- The tree’s strong wood was formerly used for firewood, cabinetwork, and charcoal making.
